Okay so heres my catch up post..we had an amazing week here in Ireland a month ago as it was National Quilting Week here and the group that I am involved with, apart from the Irish Patchwork Society held an amazing exhibition at St Mathews Church in Newtownmountkennedy, Wicklow.
The church looked amazing and very kind of St Mathews to let our group use the venue. So here was our special visitor one evening, none other than Ricky Tims himself. He was over with a group for quilting week. Everyone ahd a great time, he was socharming and even signed Moiras Ricky Tims book!
All the girls and Ricky Tims
Here are some of the pictures I took of the church and the exhibition.
Tinahely Show 2014
This is such a late post but I am finally glad to be back online. Its been a rollercoaster year, and finally getting heavy treatment for Lyme Disease here in Ireland. The last year has been very topsy turvy with the drug regime but happy to say I am feeling a lot improved at the present….!
So backdated news. First of all I was encouraged to put two of my quilts into Tinahely Show, for the All Ireland quilt competition last year. I wasnt expecting much and the quilts on exhibition were amazing but I got the surprise of my life when I won first here with my garden quilt and a second with my childs quilt. here is the detail of the garden quilt which shows the embroidery on it …
The little elephant quilt that I had been working on came second!!
The overall winner of the quilt show was a lady from Dublin and she had hand quilted this beautiful piece. I thought it was stunning and every stitch perfect!
This year I have been held up a bit with work but have entered two and am going up to Wicklow tomorrow so will be sure to post up photos!
